We got the the news about the Reduction In Force (RIF). The Coffield Unit did well. Only one of our positions was RIFed and that person was planning on retiring soon anyway. Other units had their entire program shut down or lost staff. Two of our teachers are retiring and we have been given permission to replace them. We also get to replace our testing specialist. That will greatly reduce my workload. We also are going to add another teacher. So we are very pleased with the outcome.
What we are not happy about is how they have changed our days off. In the past we have gotten three weeks off in July. Now we are going to get two weeks off. The other five days will be spread out through out the year. I wish they would have asked me my opinion on this. I like my big chuck of time off in the summer. I use it to make my extended trips. Now I have to cut those short. Thank you WSD, one of the things I look forward to and dream about all year long has been taken away. And why? You tell me it's to make my life better by giving me more non-working days throughout the year. Do not throw BS in my face and tell me to thank you for the Boston Cream pie you just served me. I know BS when I see it. If the Texas politicians had not complained about how much time off WSD employees got during the summer, you would never have thought about making any changes to our vacation. WSD administrators are always more concerned with programs than they are with people.
This is the last week before our summer vacation. I am so looking forward to going to Yellowstone with the Bufords. We have started getting our gear together. Two weeks from today we will be almost to Yellowstone.
Friday night Anita and I had a great time. We managed to get second row seats for Jeff Dunham's performance at the Oil Palace in Tyler. We have enjoyed his ventriloquist act for years. And he did not disappoint us. We were so close we could see his lips not move.
