Today was a day of looking. Papa, Mimi, Anita, Leah and I took off for the Cortez area. Chris opted to stay at the cabin. Our first stop was at a medical air supply to pick up a bottle of oxygen for Mimi. The thin air has her using a little more than usual. There have been times when i almost asked to borrow her oxygen myself.
That task completed, we went to the Anasazi Heritage Center. An extremely interesting place, even for those in the group who do not have as a deep interest in the Native American culture as I have. The collection of pottery and the interpretation of the daily life of the indigenous people of the area is extensive and spellbinding.
Once we exhausted that opportunity, we drove to an overlook at McPhee Reservoir. The overlook was the perfect place to take a bunch of photographs of each other with snow covered mountains in the background. Anita, Leah, and I found a trail named "Can Do" and walked down it for a short ways. There was a small Anasazi ruins there. Not much to see, but interesting none the less.
We spent the evening sitting outside around a campfire, eating s'mores and talking. This was one of the high points of the trip. I am impressed with the adults my children have become. They are the kind of people I would chose to spend time with even if they were not my children. I am truly blessed.
