It's Only Early January, But it Seems Like Spring

Today was a beautiful day. It warmed up into the 70's. I got home from work and just had to get outside. I cut out some dead Calla Lilies out of one of the flower beds. The farmer in me is dying to get out and work the Farm. Tomorrow is scheduled to be a sunny day, but a little cooler. As I walked around, I could think of a thousand things to do tomorrow.

One of the major projects is getting my hives ready for my new bees. I went to the East Texas Beekeepers Association (ETBA) meeting last night and ordered two hives. Now I need to make sure my old woodware will be ready for them. I also need to get a new hive and frames. At this point I am thinking of going with pure beeswax foundation. I did not get any honey in my supers last year. Some of the ETBA members said they have had problems getting their bees to draw out combs on plastic foundations. Part of the fun of growing things , whether it's a plant or an animal, is experimetning and trying out new things.

I noticed that two of my blueberries have blossoms on them. That worries me because next week the temperature is suppose to drop into the low 20's. That may freeze any new growth they have. I think I will do a bit of research to see what can be done for them.
