Let me start off by saying that I had a blast this weekend. I ran with Kelly, Heather, Alan, and Eric in the Warrior Dash. The Warrior Dash is a 5k run with insane obstacles. We had to wade through chest deep water, climb over walls, slide down poles, climb cargo nets, crawl under barbed wire, and cawl through mud among other things. About 6,000 people participated in the event on Saturday with about the same number running again on Sunday.
I stayed with Alan, Tracie, and Eric in Ft. Worth on Friday nighht. The next morning we boarded the shuttle bus At Texas Speed Way and rode over to the race area. There we met Kelly and Heather. Check in was quick and efficient. The Dash started promptly at 9:00 am.
We had agreed to stick together throughout the Dash. Kelly was suffering from a sinus and ear infection and should not have been on the course. But she is tough and not a quitter. I was really worried about her at times because she could get enough air. But we did the entire Dash.
I came in at 124 out of 142 in my age group. My time was 1:07:38.00. Alan came in at 125 at 1:07:38.10. Eat my dust kid.
The race was fun, but the most fun and greatest joy for me was just getting the chance to hang out with my best friends and my daughter. I told Kelly that it reminded me of the Daddy-Daughter Dates we used to have when she was a child. Evidently we had such a good time that Anita and Tracie want to Dash with us next year. That means I better head out to the track.
