Day 2 Yellowstone Expedition 2011 July 8, 2011

Today was a day of preparation. We spent the day at the Buford's getting their gear together. Once all the stuff we needed for 4 adults and two children was loaded, I was not sure that the van had the power to haul it all the way across the United States to Yellowstone National Park. We added a cargo carrier to the top, lashed a backpack behind that, and stuffed stuff wherever we could. We left just enough room for us to squeeze in. After Bryan completed his work requirements for the day, it was time to head out. We boarded about 5:00 pm and surprisingly the van actually moved.

Today, like the next two days to come, was a day of just putting some miles behind us. One concern we have, is how well the boys can handle being in the van for hour after hour of driving. If today was any indication, it appears that they will do well. We had no problems from them at all.

We made it to Allen, Texas, which is a suburb of Northern Dallas. We stayed with Andy and Ashley Downing. They are friends of Bryan's brother Scott.
Packing can wear out a little guy.
