Friday, 17 July, 2009 – This is the day we leave the island. I got up before everybody else and went to a nature trail on the Island. I spent about two hours photographing the birds along the trail. I took close to 200 pictures.
After I got back, we loaded up the truck and headed for home. There is not a lot to see in South Texas. At this time of year every looks dried and burned. The land is flat and scrub covered. The best part of the trip was spending time with Tracie and Alan. Alan I have known each other since 1974. We have gone on many vacations together that required long drives and the four us still enjoy each other's company.
We left the condo at 10:30 am and made it to Clear Lake about 5:30 pm. It took us about a half an hour to transfer our stuff back into our van, go to the restroom, and say our good byes.
Anita and I pulled up to the Farm at 10:15 pm. Almost 12 hours on the road, Texas is big.
