South Padre Island Expedition Day 7

Thursday, 16 July 2009 – We took our time getting out this morning. We went a long distance to the north and fished at numerous locations. The fishing was lousy. At 11:30 we stopped to get gas and began to fish close to the bridge. We ended up catching four speckled trout. I caught three. The last fish was the most interesting. When it hit my line, I knew I had a good one. I yelled to the crew to get the net because it was a keeper. Marcus landed the fish and discovered that the swivel holding the lure on had broken and the fish was actually hooked on the swivel. The fish was 18 inches long, the biggest of the trip.

That ended the fishing. We came in, got cleaned up, and took our fish, eight all total, to Blackbeard's Restaurant. We had them prepare blacken, grilled, fried, and parmesan fish. We then ate till we were to full to move. This is our second trip to Padre Island and having Blackbeard cook our fish has become a tradition.

We managed to make it back to the truck and go to Port Isabel for some shopping. Then we went back to the condo to wait for the sun to go down a bit. We wanted to go the north beach again. We wondered the beach till the sun went down. The rest of the evening we just sat around watching TV.
