Just Another Weekend on the Farm

The weather has been really crazy this week. We have had days that got into the high 70's and day that only made it into the low 40's. I have managed to put to gether the new bee hive and assemble all of the frames. This time around I am using natural beeswax foundations with crimped wires. I did seem to have much luck with the gilrs drawing out the comb on the plastic foundation I used on my first hive. I've cleaned up my old hive too. I need to paint the hives, but the high temperature today was 47. The instructions on the paint requires a minimum temperture of 50. So I'll wait till it gets warmer to do that.

Wednesday the cherry trees that were a Christmas present were delivered. I planted them today on the south side of the house. We hoping that we can use them as ornamentals as while as for fruit production. I worry that they will do well because the clay based soil we have does not drain as well as I would like it too. Time will tell.

It is getting close to certification test time. Saturday is the big day. It is constantly on my mind. One minute I am convinced that I will pass and then the next I have myself convince ther is no way I'm going to make it.  I'll just continue to study and try to be as prepared as possible.

It looks like I'll have to take the Cultural Diversity classs after all. I thought I had dodged that bullet. But Dr. Morgan e-mailed me Friday that I was enrolled ( I checked, I'm not) and gave me the syllabus. Two weeks into the semester and I find out I have a five page paper due the Tuesday after the certification exam. I hope I get all together.

Enough whinning. Time to start getting things ready for tomorrow.
