The Great Snow Storm

Once again, old Mother Nature has shown us her power and her beauty. In January we had a near miss with a tornado. Last week, we had a record breaking snow storm. It started snowing on Thursday, February 11 and continued snowing all night long. By morning, we had at least six inches of snow. And it was a gorgeous snow. There had been no wind while it was falling, so everything was covered in snow. I was supposed to ride into work with my principal, but we could not get out of our driveway. So I took the day off. What else was there for Anita and I to do but to wander in the snow, take pictures, and marvel at the beauty of the Farm. I love this Farm every day, but some days it just dresses itself up in it's finest and it is better than you could imagine it could be. The Farm never looked prettier. See the slide show in the previous post.

I was worried (and had a twinge of guilt) about not being at work because we were trying to come up with a plan to finish a class that is required before some of our student can go home. Anita kept explaining to me that it was reasonable to risk driving the roads to get to work. Her school (Lon Morris Junior College) did not close either. So be it.

We managed to leave for Kelly and Bryan's after lunch. Seth turned two on February 12. His parents were having a party for him on Saturday and of course we were invited. We made the trip without incident. Originally, I was going to miss the party because our GED graduation ceremony was scheduled for Saturday. It has been postponed until March 6 because of the Norovirus going through the Unit. If you have been following my tweets, you would know that the wings have been quarantined one after the other. We never knew who was going to be dropped from classes and when they would be back. Any way, it has been frustrating at work and I have been looking for this get away.

We stayed until Sunday morning. As always, we had a great visit. I enjoy hanging out with my grandsons. They are two cool, fun boys. As an added bonus, all my children were there. We do not get many opportunities to be all in one place at the same time. So, when we do manage it, it is a special time.

Some exciting news. Diana and Paul are engaged. No date yet, but we are excited to have Diana and Jay join our family.
