Friday, 10 July, 2009 – Today was the official start of our South Padre Island Expedition. We are going with Tracie and Alan Nordheim to stay in her brother's (Mark McRoberts) condo on the bay side of the island. Mark is a dentist in Harlingen, Texas. Next week we will reap the benefits of his successful practice. Mark is an avid fisherman. His condo is his fishing headquarters and it is very nice. Mark is a generous person and gives us the run of the place as well as the use of his bay boat and his fishing equipment. We did this same thing about two years ago and had a great time. I will go on record as predicating it will be a repeat.
We left the Farm at noon. The trip was going well till about Willis where I-45 slowed to 6 mph. We pulled over to get gas and for a restroom break. We learned that there was a wreck up ahead. Fortunately, the speed picked up shortly after we got back on the road. However, there was a lot of traffic in Houston and we did not get to the Nordheims' until 5:30 pm.
The internet will not be available to me during the trip, so I'll post updates to the trip when I get home.
